How video-llm collects, uses and protects your data when you turn links into shorts.

Last updated: 19 June 2026

Overview

video-llm turns one to five public video links into a finished vertical short — writing a voice-over, picking the B-roll, burning in subtitles and rendering the clip. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use the service, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

If anything here is unclear, contact us at privacy@video-llm.com.

Information we collect

We only collect what we need to run your generations and keep your account secure:

  • Account: Your email address and a hashed password, or — if you use Google sign-in — the basic profile your Google account shares.
  • What you submit: The video URLs you paste, plus any optional prompt and the target length you choose for a short.
  • What we generate: The artifacts the pipeline produces from your sources: downloaded clips, transcripts, the script, the AI voice-over, the selected B-roll and the final video, caption and hashtags.
  • Credits & history: Your credit balance and the list of shorts you have started, so we can show your history and bill credits correctly.
  • Technical: Standard request data such as your IP address and browser type, and a single signed authentication cookie that keeps you signed in.

How we use your information

We use the data above to:

  • Operate the service — download your sources and run them through the pipeline to build your short.
  • Authenticate you and keep your generations, sources and downloads private to your account.
  • Track and renew your credit allowance and refund credits when a generation fails.
  • Send transactional email — address verification and password resets.
  • Keep the service secure, debug failures and improve how the pipeline works.

Third-party processors

To turn a link into a short we share the minimum necessary with sub-processors that act on our behalf. We do not sell your personal data.

  • Source platforms: YouTube, TikTok and Instagram — we download the public videos you choose to link.
  • AI providers: Speech-to-text, frame scoring, the language model that writes the script and the text-to-speech voice (e.g. OpenAI, Google Gemini, ElevenLabs) process your transcripts, frames and script to generate your short.
  • Object storage: Your downloaded clips, audio and final video are stored in S3-compatible object storage.
  • Email delivery: Verification and password-reset emails are delivered through our email provider (Resend).

Cookies

We use a single, essential cookie: a signed JWT that keeps you signed in between visits. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Clearing the cookie or signing out ends the session.

Data retention & deletion

Your generations and the sources behind them stay tied to your account and are visible only to you. We keep them so you can revisit your history and re-download your shorts.

You can delete your account from Account settings at any time. Deleting it removes your videos and source data and anonymizes the account. This cannot be undone.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete the personal data we hold about you. You can update your email and sign-in methods, and delete your account, directly from Account settings.

For any other request, email us at privacy@video-llm.com and we will respond within a reasonable time.

Security

Passwords are stored hashed, sessions ride on a signed authentication cookie, and access to your generations is scoped to your account. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security — but we work to protect your data and to limit what each sub-processor receives.

Children's privacy

video-llm is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age required to consent in their country. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. When we do, we will revise the “last updated” date above; significant changes may also be announced in the app or by email.
